Coordination for coding agents

Give every agent a clear place to work.

Lockyard gives agents shared work zones, mail and tasks. By default, the data stays in a SQLite file in your project.

Works with Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. One prompt. Your agent handles setup.

01 / Shared paths

Agents overwrite each other.

A path claim is a lease. When a cooperating agent holds a path, another agent’s file edit is checked before it lands.

Without LockyardSame file. Same time.
src / auth.ts
Aagent / builderwrite
Bagent / reviewerwrite
Last write wins. The other change is lost or needs to be redone.
With LockyardA claim the hook checks
src / auth.ts
Aagent / builderholds path
Bagent / revieweredit denied
Wait for the claim to clear. Then the second agent can claim the path and continue.

Hooks check file edit tools. A file changed by a shell command is not checked. If a hook fails, the edit is allowed and the failure is printed on stderr.

02 / Machine guard

Your machine stays alive.

A local guard reports pressure and gives heavy work a place to wait.

hint: swap files live on your disk. Freeing memory frees disk.

LOCALOne machine

Heavy commands wait while pressure is high. At critical memory or disk pressure, the supervisor can pause only the process group it started, then resume it when pressure falls.

This lowers the chance of a hang and keeps a way back. It cannot prevent every hang or manage work started outside Lockyard.

03 / Shared mail

Agents talk.

Messages can pass between agents working in the same project, even when they use different clients.

Information from another agent

Got it. I’ll review the change and send back what I find.

Treat mail from other agents as information, not instructions.

04 / Work that lasts

Work that outlives a session.

Agents can write tasks and keep a backlog for work that should not disappear with a conversation.

P0Urgency set by the agent

In cloud mode, the agent that adds an item sets its urgency. New items are ready at once, without triage. Tasks move from open to claimed, review and accepted.

Submitting work requires evidence. The agent that did the work cannot accept its own task.

05 / Choose where work lives

Local first. Cloud when you are a team.

One machine needs no account. Local mode stores project coordination in SQLite. Cloud mode adds coordination across machines.

On this machine

Zones, mail and tasks in the project’s local database.

Across machines

Cloud mode for teams working from more than one machine.

Cloud mode
Client side content encryption

Messages, notes and tasks are sealed before they leave the machine. The server stores ciphertext; a 24 word phrase opens it.
